About Us

The Cinema Social Club was founded with a deep appreciation for the film arts and their unique ability to uplift, unite, and entertain people. Our journey began in the media business, with experience ranging from working as projectionists at local movie theatres to evaluating movie classifications at the Australian Classification Board. These roles fostered a profound admiration for cinema and its impact on people’s lives.

In 2019, we embarked on a new path as support workers for the elderly and disabled. Through this work, we discovered a common desire among seniors for social interaction and engaging community activities. This realisation inspired us to combine our expertise in social support with our passion for film, leading to the creation of The Cinema Social Club. Our mission is to provide enjoyable and fulfilling outings that bring joy and connection to our valued members.

Before the inception of The Cinema Social Club, our team gained valuable insights while working as support workers for seniors. We observed a common challenge among many of those we supported: a significant lack of social interaction. Some of our clients would go an entire week without using their voice, while others simply longed for a drive to get out of the house. This realisation led to the creation of The Cinema Social Club with a straightforward but profound mission: to provide a gathering place where senior citizens can routinely watch movies, exchange stories, and form enduring friendships. Our organisation caters to the needs and interests of seniors, combining the enjoyment of cinema outings with the warmth and comfort of a social gathering.

Our aspirations are lofty: we want to take The Cinema Social Club national, enabling any senior with a home care package to join. Our special method takes care of everything, including transportation, delicious post-movie food, and complimentary movie tickets, making sure that our members have a worry-free and entertaining time. We charge competitive fees and prioritise affordability and inclusivity, building our business on the foundation of our local community.

Even though we're only getting started and hope to grow into other areas, our major goal is still to improve seniors' quality of life by introducing them to the joys of community and film.

Treat every member with the respect, consideration, and care that I would expect for myself as a senior is my basic tenet. The Cinema Social Club is a community where every member is cherished and every outing is an adventure, not merely a service.
